A redesign is not a new coat of paint.

When a website no longer feels credible, clear, or current, the problem is rarely one screen. It is usually the relationship between brand, structure, content, technology, and the audience.

We redesign websites by understanding the business first. That means finding what still works, seeing what has become fragmented, and rebuilding the experience around the company you are now—not the company you were when the old site launched.

What a website redesign should actually fix.

A strong redesign solves the underlying causes—not just the most visible symptoms.

01

The brand has outgrown it.

The business has evolved, but the website still reflects an earlier version of its positioning, audience, or ambition.

02

The structure creates friction.

Important services are buried, navigation feels improvised, and visitors have to work too hard to understand what matters.

03

Mobile feels secondary.

The desktop layout may survive, but the typography, spacing, hierarchy, and calls to action lose their strength on a phone.

04

The content has no hierarchy.

Good information exists, but it is repeated, fragmented, or presented without a clear path from interest to decision.

05

Search visibility has stalled.

Thin pages, weak internal links, missing metadata, and an outdated site structure keep useful expertise from being understood.

06

The platform is in the way.

Routine updates feel difficult, plugins or templates dictate the design, and the site cannot comfortably support what comes next.

We decide what to keep before deciding what to change.

Every stage is connected, so creative decisions support usability, development, content, and search from the beginning.

01

Audit what exists

We review the current site, brand, analytics, search presence, content, competitors, platform, and technical limitations before deciding what should change.

02

Rebuild the architecture

We organize pages, priorities, navigation, calls to action, and internal links around how your audience actually explores and decides.

03

Create the design system

Typography, spacing, imagery, motion, color, and interface details are redesigned as one coherent expression of the brand.

04

Develop and refine

Approved layouts become a responsive website with flexible templates, thoughtful interactions, and an editing experience your team can manage.

05

Migrate and launch

Content, redirects, metadata, analytics, forms, and essential integrations are checked before launch so valuable history is not discarded.

Redesign + SEO Migration

Preserve the authority.
Improve the experience.

A redesign can look better and still perform worse if valuable URLs, content, search signals, or tracking disappear during launch. We build the transition plan into the redesign itself.

  • 01 Content and keyword review
  • 02 URL mapping and 301 redirects
  • 03 Metadata and heading structure
  • 04 Contextual internal linking
  • 05 Analytics and conversion tracking
  • 06 Post-launch crawl and indexing checks

Keep the platform—or move for a reason.

A redesign does not automatically require migration. The right choice depends on content, commerce, functionality, editing needs, and where the business is going.

Before you rebuild.

Clear answers to the questions that usually come first.

How do I know if I need a redesign instead of a new website?

If the business, content, and domain still have value but the site no longer represents them clearly, a redesign is usually the right approach. We identify what should be preserved, reorganized, rewritten, rebuilt, or retired before the creative work begins.

Will a website redesign hurt our SEO?

It can if URLs, content, internal links, metadata, or redirects are handled carelessly. Our process treats search equity as part of the redesign, with a deliberate migration plan and post-launch checks.

Can you redesign a site without changing our brand?

Yes. Some companies need a stronger digital expression of an identity that already works. Others need selective brand refinement so the website feels coherent. We recommend only what the project actually needs.

Can you move our website to a different platform?

Yes. We design and develop in WordPress, Shopify, and Squarespace, and can recommend whether staying put or migrating better supports your content, commerce, team, and long-term plans.

Do you redesign only New York websites?

No. Bionic Egg is a New York City studio working with clients across the United States and internationally. The process is structured for close collaboration regardless of location.

How long does a website redesign take?

Timing depends on page count, content readiness, functionality, approvals, and platform. A focused redesign may take several weeks; a larger custom website can take several months. The schedule is defined around the actual scope before work begins.

Can the site stay live while the redesign is underway?

Yes. The current website normally remains live while the new experience is designed and developed separately. The changeover happens only after the redesigned site has been reviewed and tested.
